Today I recalled that Carl (former head of governors) had mentioned to me that he bought a Kindel from Amazon and I’d mentioned to him that I had thousands of eBooks on my PC and I was happy to let have any he wanted free of charge. Well I thought I best find all these books and send him a list of titles. Well I knew that I had “quite a few” eBooks but not a clue about how many it turned out to be. It turned out that I had in excess of 12 gigs and given that the average book takes up bytes that a pop mp3 then that’s one flip of a lot of books. I emailed Carl a list of some and received an astonished reply somewhat later to the effect that what I’d sent wasn’t a list so much as it was a library…I told you there were a lot! He was very interested in a number of authors and these I transferred to a pen drive. His daughter Paige picked them up later that day. I think in total the pen drive probably held a couple of hundred books in each in 3 different formats so I recon he’ll have enough to be getting on with! While I’d been doing this I’d also been reading tweets and various Google Reader feeds. Being a phone freak I’d closely followed the early reviews of the new Nokia N8 which had finally been released into the wild a few days before. It all looks good so far; the camera appears to be superlative and has received glowing reviews. So, unless something terrible is unexpectedly discovered, I’ve decided I’m going to treat myself to one. Overtime here I come!!!
I finally went to bed, back to work tonight, and while I was setting my phone up to listen to podcasts I had a quick look at FaceBook. Why I don’t know it’s not a site I visit all that often but Gods hand must have been at work because there at the very top of my feed was a message from Ash, a colleague, saying he’d got a new job and was starting it the following morning. Well that was a shook, I knew he’d applied for this particular post within the company but as of our last morning on Thursday he’d not received as much as an acknowledgement of his application. When he came in that evening to bid everyone farewell he explained what had happened. It turned out that he’d been called for an interview on the Friday afternoon and received a phone call at19:30 Sunday evening asking him if he could start work on Tuesday morning! I’m glad for him that he got it but I’ll miss him; he’s one of the funniest and nicest people it’s been my pleasure to know. I’ll miss him greatly. SHIT I’ve just realised the BASTARD’S got my Superman Returns DVD the thieving F**king C**t!!!
At work that evening I got landed with EA and it was that busy that I went on it straight away at 9:00 to help out the evening staff (normally we take this over at 11:00). A little after 01:00, when things had quietened down, I got chatting to Michaela (she runs EA during the evening and stays on for a few hours after we take over –p she wants to join our team I advised her to strike while the irons hot with about conspiracy theories that her friends believe and which they keep trying to get her to subscribe to. This lead into a discussion about scepticism and religion and I directed her toward Skeptoid as a good initial source of information about these weird conspiracies. Turns out her parents put her in a Catholic School (they aren’t Catholics) where the Nuns tried their usual tricks. The great thing is the more they tried to convert her the more she rebelled. I knew there was a reason why I liked her. She’s going to listen to Skeptoid when she’s off later in the week so hopefully she’ll be another convert to the sceptic cause!
I noticed that, yet again, Nat hasn’t written his blog, there’ll be a reckoning tomorrow and he’s very very close to losing that skiing trip. Finally, Norman Wisdom the Comedian and actor passed away today age 95 yrs. Until he had a stroke 6 months ago he was as fit as a fiddle and could still dance. Goodbye Mr Wisdom, I can’t claim to be a huge fan of your style of slapstick but still RESPECT to you.

Back to Work, Hannah Singing, Sweaty Again, Podcasts, Lidia’s Wedding Reception, Autumn’s Here
Today is a back to work day so I’ll need to sleep in the day time ready for the long night’s stint. Having stayed up all night again by the time Deb came downstairs I was falling asleep on the sofa, having finally abandoned the net a little while earlier. While she and the kids got ready for the day I drifted in and out of consciousness. I was half asleep when they left and semi awoke to the music of the Jeremy Kyle show. I half watched another bunch of semi literate family members threatening each other with violence but didn’t really get the gist of it; probably that was the gist of it anyway with many of these families violence seems to be their alpha and omega. So, to bed I told myself only to discover that I was once more fully awake. I returned to the PC for an hour or so until I tired sufficiently to make the trip up the stairs to Bedfordshire. I did have an amusing exchange on twitter with
Slept most of the day drifting in and out of various podcasts until I was woken by Hannah returning home, with Deb, singing loudly. Nat had come home an hour earlier but I hadn’t heard him. I drifted off again, eventually, until Deb came and got me out of bed at 6:00 PM. Downstairs Hannah was besides herself with excitement about going to a wedding, well the reception, and kept urging Deb and Nat to go even though it wasn’t due to start until 7:30. They did leave at 7:30 leaving me to finish getting ready for work. Left Home just before 8:00 and arrived at work 30 minutes later once more bathed in sweat. You just can’t win, if it’s warm you sweat anyway and if its cold you sweat under your coat. Either way arrived and upon entering the building was immediately drenched in perspiration. It’s not been busy tonight, surprisingly given how cold the weather’s turned but I’m trying to get into my winter mindset as looks like autumn has arrived early.

Bagel BLT, Podcasts, Bed, Donna, Work. And Re-date Nat’s Blogs
I didn’t get to bed until 4 AM and then I only slept until 9 AM because I woke up starving. I knew I needed more sleep because I’m back at work tonight. Decide to get up make some breakfast and then return to the lands of nod. I mention this only because I made two fantastic BLT Bagels for breakie; heated sliced bagel in toaster for one minute, then spread Philadelphia cheese on both half’s, then layered with tomato, lettuce and two slices of crispy fried bacon ate accompanied by Large Mug of Black Coffee - Bloody Gorgeous! I munched my way through these while watching the old JK show. What a shower of chavs today, Christ don’t these people have any idea about contraception and faithfulness? Is the baby my on off boy friends or his mates; the mate I shagged during one of our frequent break-ups? God help the poor little sods they keep producing. If JK’s still on the TV in 15 years these kids will be on the show for DNA tests too. Mrs Thatcher may have had to drag UK industry into the 20th century but in doing so she created an underclass that seems destined to be with us for the foreseeable future. Completely uneducated, asocial and drug dependant, basically everything you see on Shameless, but without the humour. It terrifies me that my kids will be bumping into these feral animals in town when they’re a little older.
Went back to bed around mid-day and updated my phones podcast menu, deleting old pods and subscribing to a few new ones. Finally got round to listening to the back episodes of The Pod Delusion and was impressed by their dedicated assault on homeopathy, I really wish I’d been able to take part in the 10:23 campaign; they held an overdose, on a homeopathy remedy, day outside of Boots the Chemist. Later, on the six o clock news it was announced that the Health Service is to hold an enquiry into the use of homeopathy in the NHS with a view to, eventually, withdrawing public funding for this bullshit; if the gullible, in the face of the evidence, wish to continue to waste their money so be it. As they say, “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it think!”
Got up a little earlier than usual, 5:30, spoke briefly to my son, Nat “I live in my room where I live for gaming”, before he unceremoniously exiled me from his domain, then I went downstairs. Watched the news, see above, made my sandwiches and soup and had dinner, belly pork, salad and garlic bread, yum.
Deb’s Dad has been for the biopsy today but won’t know anything for a little while; for now all we can do is keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. Donna, suprize surprise, phoned to keep Deb up to date with the ongoing saga of her separation and pending divorce, it’s been three and a half years since he deserted her for her best friend so why the f**k is the guy still hassling her. I could understand if it were the other way round, there can be few greater betrayals that what he and that women did to her, but for the life of me I can’t understand why he seems to think that he’s the injured party. I suppose that’s what comes of being a sociopath you can ONLY see it from your point of view, in fact your point of view is the ONLY point of view. It would seem that when God* was handing out empathy at Tesco’s he was obviously queuing at Asda!
Anyway, Donna was really unwell today, she’s got serious problems with her pancreas and is in considerable pain most of the time, so she sent a taxi to pick up Sian and Nat from school, Nat had a visit, in class, from a yr 9 to inform him he would be being taken home in a cab. Later he proudly displayed the notice he’d received.
Eventually I left for work at about 7:45 arrived at 8:00. It’s been quite busy all night** so far but appears to be easing off now (00:05). Just checked Nat’s posts only to discover that he appears to think that it’s still January… Shall I amend them for him?
* no I don’t really believe in God it’s just a turn of phrase, I’m not that dumb if I was I’d believe in homeopathy wouldn’t I?
**Must be the cold snap but once more many areas already fully booked up for tomorrow.
