Sunday 30 May – Tuesday 1 June : Bank Holiday Weekend

Nothing, basically we have done absolutely nothing over this Bank Holiday. This was in part due to the weather in the main was due to a lack of cash. We did have a small BarBQ on Monday afternoon but that’s about it. Stayed up too late and slept in too long. Deb managed to get an hour in at the allotment on Sunday morning whilst the rest of us slumbered in the arms of Morpheus. I did post some stupid jokes to Facebook and Twitter based on different European Countries Terror Alert Status’s and these picked up a few likes on FB. Other than that Sod All … aren’t we a Fricking Boring Bunch of Barstools!

Whoopee; Deb’s just bought me The Hanged Man as my present “from the kids” for Father’s Day! I keep telling Nat that I expect his Blog entries to be a minimium of two hundred words. it would appear that at present I’ve not lived up to my own standards! What on earth am I to do, should I stop now in the hope the the day will provide more to say later or should I waffle on to the two hundred repeating words unnecessarily repeatedly whenever the opportunity to repeat them presents itself. That would seem to be a very underhand strategy especially if I used it repeatedly! Hold on; the last word in that last sentence was the Two Hundred and Twenty Fourth Word so the debate is moot! I’m so glad I didn’t have to cheat, I mean what kind of impression would that have made?

Saturday 3 April - Return to the Allotment, Games Workshop, Futurama, Work, Doctor Who

Deb and I finally managed to visit the allotment this morning for the first time this year. The weathers been so shitty these last few months that whenever we've had the opportunity to go there the weathers prevented it. We dug up the remaining parsnips and leaks and Deb planted some shallots. I had the fun job of washing the mud off the veg in the water tank; my hands are beginning to experience a partial return of sensation as I attempt to type this! Because of the weather there's an awful lot of work that needs to be done; the plots overgrown and we're going to have to clear it, again, before we can start serious planting. Hopefully, I'll be able to go up there over the next few weekends, before my operation renders me immobile for two months, and help Deb get some of the donkey work done. I think that this year, like last, we'll do what we can and next year, by which time hopefully I'll be fully mobile, we can try and bring the whole plot under cultivation. By then, again hopefully, Nat will be big enough and old enough to make a real contribution toward helping with this work.

Just as we arrived home Nat was getting into Sam's parents car and departing for, yet another day at, the Games Workshop, unbelievably Han was up and out of bed and watching Futurama when we got in ... it was only 10:30 and she was UP!!!!! She and Deb are off to the Garden Centre shortly and I'm for bed as I'm back at work this evening. It seems as if it's going to be a nice day today so hopefully we'll have a quite night, after the hassles of the two previous weekends it'll be nice if it is. Please God let it be that IT have finished with their badly planned updates!

I finally watched the last two episodes of Doctor Who with David Tenant as The Doctor this morning in anticipation of the new series that starts tonight. I know it sounds ridiculous but I'll miss him as the Doctor. Anyway, it's time to give the new chap a chance; the few previews that the BBC have shown look pretty good.

Wed 03:19 AM - Odd Calls

I've just taken a call from someone returning a message left on their answer machine earlier yesterday. What made her think that the person who had left that message was still at work now!!!

Prior to this I spoke to a lady who was so busy panicking that she wouldn't actually listen to anything I was saying to her. Eventually after 10 minutes I solved her problem, (7 Min's later than I would have if she'd initially listened to what I was trying to say to her) if she didn't want my advice then why on earth did she phone?

It's very strange, we always get these calls at this time of the morning,

(the 3am weirdo's)

what makes it doubly odd is that I thought that this was the time of the day when the body was at it's lowest ebb and that if people were NOT going to be awakened by strange noises then this would be the time when they weren't - if that makes sense.

So what happened on Tuesday?

Home as normal yesterday morning looking forward to bed. Received a call just before I went up the stairs to Bedfordshire that nearly lead to a real mix up. The called asked to speak to my wife, I replied she was at work and could I be of assistance. It wasn't very easy to make out what the guy on the other end was saying but I did make out the word allotment and naturally assumed (made an ass out of you and me) that he was speaking about our existing allotment whereas he was calling about another site that Deb had made enquires of about 10 months ago. As you can imagine this lead to:

an hilarious half an hour of mutual incomprehension that caused us to eventually become locked into a viscous blood feud of cosmic proportions that effected the future of innumerable galaxies and lead to the resolution of all the great metaphysical questions that have plagued humanity since time immemorial

See How We Battled

Well no, not really, in fact we just ended up initially speaking at cross purposes with the caller wondering who and what it was I was referring to when I spoke about out existing plot. So you see, it's not just the people who call me who don't listen, I'm just as guilty!

The Plan : to bed to listen to the rest of the Economist mp3 on my Nokia N95.

The Result : to bed to fall asleep and not listen to the rest of the Economist mp3 on my Nokia N95.

Awoke knowing a lot less about the World economy than I though I would know about it before I went to sleep. Came to the conclusion that the Russian theory of sleep learning is in fact deeply flawed, although ironically, I had learned this fact whilst I was asleep!

When I say I awoke, I had actually woken up on a number of occasions already, in order to go to the loo. It was from this experience that I learned that it's not a good idea to drink

TOO MUCH BEER

before you go to bed. Perhaps, today, I’ll try it after I’ve gone to bed or even have some ready for when I wake up to go to the loo, killing two birds with one stone, and thus ensuring that the lost sleep time has not been wasted.
