Sunday 14 April

Sunday 14 April

Yesterday Nat went away for the weekend to The Scouts HQ in Blaby to take part in a leadership course. Whether we will ever have any inkling of what he did there will depend on whether we are able to corner him, when he arrives home, before he heads upstairs to his beloved X-Box. It’s certainly bad timing Vis-à-vis rugby because he’s away this weekend and the weekend after next and there will be rugby matches both weekends. In fact this weekend there were matches on both Saturday and Sunday. Hannah had Theatretrain this morning but I’ve had no chance to enquire as to whether anything unique or exciting happened there. I had a 1-2-1 tonight at work which went well and it seems that according to me statistics (metrics) I’m in 6th place out of the 320 people working in the Leicester Call Centre so well done me … eh as my Canadian buddies on Twitter might say.

I’ve began reading Bertrand Russell’s “History of Western Philosophy” this evening and I must say that I’m enjoying it a great deal. It’s certainly got to be one of the main advantages of having an ereader, like my Kindle, that one can be simultaneously reading so many non-fiction books, dipping in and out as fancy takes one while being able to go back to a good novel when one is in need of a well deserved break; and talking of novels I’ve nearly finished rereading Peter F Hamilton’s first novel Mindstar Rising and I’d forgotten just how good a story it was with it’s depiction of a mid 21st Century Britain post global warming. It was most certainly prescient stuff for a guy writing his first book in the early 1990’s before climate change was really on anyone’s agenda.
